A former Kingston College student, graduated from University of the West Indies in 1976 at the age of 22 as a medical doctor. He achieved the fellowship in surgery from Royal College of Glasgow in 1983 and became a consultant Orthopaedic surgeon in 1986 and is employed in the Public Sector. He has pursued studies in Business Administration and Computing and achieved a post graduate DBA in business administration from the University of Manchester, United Kingdom, a BSc honours in Computing from University of Technology (UTECH) and currently pursuing a Masters in Information Security.

Doctor Blake has served on many boards and has a strong sporting interest. He has served as the Chairman of the Jamaica Sub-Aqua Club, President of the Jamaica Rifle Association and is the current President of the Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association (JAAA). He is a founding member of the Jamaica Association (JA) of Sports Medicine and was the Chairman of the Medical and Anti-Doping Committee of the JAAA. He has done drug testing for the JAAA and Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission (JADCo) locally and internationally. He also served as the chief anti-doping delegate at several regional games controlled by North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC). He often travels with Jamaica’s senior teams to major championships and he was the team doctor for the athletic team in Athens, Greece 2004, Beijing, China 2008 and London 2012 Olympics. He served the dual roles of team doctor and team manager at the World Indoor Championships in Qatar in 2010. He also represented Jamaica as an athlete at the Commonwealth Games in Australia in 2006 in Target Pistol Shooting.

Dr Blake is Chairman, Sport Development Foundation of Jamaica, former board member of the Jamaica Disabilities Association, former President of the Junior Doctors Association of Jamaica and former Chief negotiator for the Jamaican Government Medical Consultant’s Association. Dr Blake operates his own private practice and is the Orthopaedic Consultant for the Bustamante Children Hospital – the largest children hospital in the Caribbean. He is a partner and Chairman of Solid Life and General Insurance Brokers Limited and Solid Property Company Limited. He is an Adjunct Professor of Sports Medicine in the Department of Sports Science at the University of Technology (UTECH). He is the Prime Ministers representative on the Council of Management at UTECH.

His hobbies are scuba diving, spear fishing, deep sea fishing, shooting, distance running and photography.
