Jamaica’s fastest rising track star, sprint hurdler Janeek Brown, has joined the professional ranks. Brown, the world’s fastest hurdler this season with 12.40, signed with Puma last Thursday, according to reports.
Brown, who attended Wolmer’s girls high school before going on to spend the last two years at the University of Arkansas, participated at Jamaica’s national championships last week. Her event ended in a stalemate.
She started the season running 12.80 but went on to win the NCAA division one title with 12.40 in early June. Janeek is expected to be a member of Jamaica’s teams to major events later in the season. She is expected to continue her education while she competes.
